Short: OnlineMiami v1.2 Arexx scripts Author: Jason Davies (obiwan) Uploader: obiwan thenet co uk Type: comm/misc Replaces: comm/misc/onlinemiami.lha Requires: comm/misc/Online1.5.lha, comm/tcp/Miami30#?.lha, Architecture: m68k-amigaos comm/misc/Holmes.lha, and ARexx installed. Version: 1.2 Features: Three simple ARexx scripts: Onlinestart.miami, Onlinestop.miami, and Onlineabort.miami. Install: Dearchive scripts to your miami/rexx directory. Onlinestart.miami needs to be edited for use on your system. Using a text editor alter the path for the variable ONLINE_PATH which reads: ONLINE_PATH="Comms:OnlineMeter/OnlineMeter" to point to the OnlineMeter program in your set-up. Unless you are a British Telecom user you will have to change the 'Local' value for the variable ONLINE_ZONE which reads: ONLINE_ZONE="Local" to an appropriate zone used in your OnlinePrefs program (see Online-O-Meter.guide for more info on zones). If you use Miami's "get time" function and wish to automatically save the corrected time to your realtime clock, you can uncomment the "setclock line" in the OnlineStop.miami script (thank you to Rene Bour for the suggestion). For further information concerning Miami's "get time" function please consult Miami.guide. A list of various time servers is available at the following website: http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~mills/ntp/servers.html Onlinestop.miami and onlineabort.miami scripts need to be edited for use on your system. To disable the Holmes program change the variable expression HOLMES_SWITCH="yes" to read "no". Alter the path for the variable HOLMES_PATH which reads: HOLMES_PATH="C:Holmes" to point to the Holmes program in your set-up. Alter the path for the variable ONLINELOG_PATH which reads: ONLINELOG_PATH="Comms:OnlineMeter/Online.log" to point to the Online-O-Meter logfile in your set-up. To use these scripts with Miami: Launch miami, Select "Events", Place "Onlinestop.miami" in "active Offline" Place "Onlinestart.miami" in "Online" Place "Onlinestop.miami" in "passive Offline" Place "Onlineabort.miami" in "failed Online attempt" Select "Settings/Save" menu. Comment: These scripts are public domain (well I couldn't very well call it shareware, or even freeware for that matter). Kick it, beat it, poke it in the guts I don't care - change it to your own requirements. It literally took me two minutes to write (if that) and I possess virtually no knowledge of ARexx. ARexx is cool. ARexx is very cool, everyone should learn it!. Stop reading this and write a script, yes you, the one in front of the monitor DO IT NOW!!!. Get "Mastering Amiga ARexx" by Paul Overaa (Bruce Smith Books). Miami, OnlineMeter, and Holmes are available for download on Aminet (comm/tcp and comm/misc respectively). The latest versions and further information concerning these programs can be found at the following websites: Miami http://www.nordicglobal.com/Miami.html Online-O-Meter http://www.users.dircon.co.uk/~nuke/ Holmes http://www.geocities.com/Siliconvalley/Way/7514 The latest version of these scripts can always be found at my own website: http://www.thenet.co.uk/~obiwan/ History: 1/10/96 V1.0 first release 10/1/97 V1.1 added setclock save, updated readme file 18/6/98 v1.2 added support for Holmes by Roberto Agria Future: Well what else do you expect it to do? Thanks: To Sam Quigg for the honourable mention in CUAmiga :-D Disclaimer: If you think your computer has crashed because of these scripts then your as daft as a brush, bugger off!!.
